Purpose
Bring design, construction, repair, materials and practical maritime knowledge into a connected development proposition, with the Marine Academy as a separate educational initiative.
Design, build and repair
The industrial programme brings together vessel design and engineering, shipbuilding capability and repair or maintenance functions. Each function needs its own operating model, technical standards, equipment and competent delivery organisation.
Materials connected to real marine needs
The cluster can provide a development setting for evaluated composites and protective-coating approaches. Material selection follows the vessel, substrate, exposure and classification requirements; a research link does not constitute approval for use at sea.
A working relationship with education
The separate Marine Academy concept connects maritime learning with the proposed industrial setting. Museums, visits and public learning can introduce shipbuilding and marine engineering to a wider audience, subject to site access, operational safety and an agreed visitor programme.
The MAXIMUS role
MAXIMUS develops the cluster proposition and connects institutional, technical and educational workstreams. Land, development rights, shipyard operation, construction and vessel delivery require separately evidenced parties and approvals.
Cooperation
Naval architects, shipbuilders, repair specialists, material developers, maritime educators and prospective site or infrastructure participants can contribute a defined capability to the development brief.
